The clear lens was tested by COLTS Laboratories (report O-SPG111015, A2LA-accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, spectral transmittance measured per ANSI Z80.3): 99.99% filtered at 400 nm, 95.1% at 410 nm, 63.0% at 420 nm, and 33.1% at 450 nm, with UVA and UVB both filtered above 99.99%. Visible-light (photopic) transmission is 91.6%, which is why the lens reads as near-clear rather than tinted. The same report covers a yellow evening lens (labeled “amber” in the report itself) at 98% of the 400-500 nm blue band, 99.9% of high-energy visible light, 98.3% at the 460-480 nm band associated with melatonin suppression, and about 65% visible transmission. Separately, an orange lens measured 99.96% across 380-500 nm and a red lens 99.83% across the same range, tested in 2026 by the lens manufacturer’s optical laboratory; neither of those two is suitable for driving. All of this is measurement of transmittance and color, done to the ANSI Z80.3 standard for non-prescription eyewear, and independently accredited. None of it is a government clearance, and none of it is presented as one.

What ANSI Z80.3 and lab accreditation do and do not mean

ANSI Z80.3 governs light transmittance and chromaticity for non-prescription, cosmetic-category lenses, and PROSPEK’s clear lens group passed it on all tested samples under COLTS report O-SPG111015. A2LA accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 means the laboratory itself meets a recognized competence standard for running that test correctly and repeatably. Neither of those covers reading power. Where PROSPEK offers magnification, the strength is not standards-tested the way the transmittance is, and this page will not describe it that way. Reading strengths across the line run from +0.50 to +3.00 depending on style; the magnification sits in the same coated lens used for the non-reading styles, which is why one pair covers screen and paper reasonably well without needing a heavier tint.

How to read this kind of claim on any product, not just ours

Because self-filed registry entries are common in this category, it is worth knowing what to check on any listing, PROSPEK included:
  • Ask whether a cited registration number reflects agency review of a claim, or just a manufacturer’s own filing. The two look similar in a listing but mean very different things.
  • Ask what standard a transmittance number was tested against, and over what wavelength range. A percentage with no band attached (“blocks 99%”) cannot be checked against anything.
  • Ask whether the testing lab is independently accredited (for example, to ISO/IEC 17025) or whether the number comes from the brand’s own claim with no lab named.
  • Ask whether a magnification or power figure is described as standards-tested. Z80.3-style transmittance testing does not cover that, for PROSPEK or for anyone else.
